Spermaceti wax is a kind of mixture with main constituent of Cetyl Alcohol Palmitic Acid Ester, i.e. Lipid, Alcohols and acid account for 95.4%, 2.6%, 1.2% respectively.

 

 

Spermaceti wax is the solid wax produced by refrigerating and squeezing a kind of fatty substance extracted from the head of sperm whale. Refined product of spermaceti wax is white, odorless one with some luster. It can resolve in aether and carbon bisulfide but not resolve in water. Some portion of refined spermaceti wax can be saponified in alkaline solution and form emulsion.
